煤炭是一种基本的资源，可以通过多种途径获得。主要来源有岩石、矿井中的沙尘恶灵、从铁匠铺购买或煤炭窑。煤炭也有可能通过回收垃圾或钓鱼宝箱中得到。

煤炭用于一些打造配方，也是在熔炉中冶炼金属锭或精炼石英的必要材料。

位置

煤炭有时候会出现在岩石里，包括矿井和地图其他地方。运气值会影响找到煤炭的概率。
在矿井中的某些特定的层，矿车上会有煤炭。跟着铁轨走，找到装了煤炭的矿车，右键点击就可以得到煤炭。有的矿车也会是空的。
在矿井中的某些特定的层，煤炭可以从地上的棕色矿工袋子里找到。每个袋子有8个煤炭。
煤炭窑可将10个木头转化为1个煤炭。
你可以通过击杀矿井41-79层中的沙尘恶灵来得到煤炭。使用电梯可以反复到达这个区域。同时这也是获取铁矿石的方法。
- 更高效获取铁矿石和煤炭的方法是从矿井50层开始，51层很可能同时有沙尘恶灵和铁矿石，52层是一个狭长的区域，终点一定会有阶梯，如果碰上那天了，53层会是充满沙尘恶灵的感染层，击杀这些煤炭来源后会得到一个向下的阶梯，你可以到54层去获取更多铁矿石。重复以上步骤即可。
- 如果是为煤炭而去击杀沙尘恶灵，最好戴上由击杀沙尘恶灵得到的窃贼戒指。
黑色/变种史莱姆会掉落煤炭。它们可以在史莱姆屋中饲养。
矿井中30-39层的石魔和80-119层的金属大头可能会掉落煤炭。

从铁匠铺购买煤炭需要花费data-sort-value="150">150金。但是从木匠的商店购买10个木头并用煤炭窑转化为煤炭会更便宜（花费data-sort-value="100">100金）。
